On July 12th, 2022, the first images of the James Webb telescope were released. All day, I stared at the images, trying to comprehend what I was seeing. How is that damn mountain just floating up in space? That evening after dinner, I read and watched everything I could explaining these magical images. There was one image that took my breath away immediately; The Comic Cliffs were unlike anything I've ever seen before. This giant mountain, as explained below by NASA is the birthplace of new stars:
"Called the Cosmic Cliffs, Webb’s seemingly three-dimensional picture looks like craggy mountains on a moonlit evening. In reality, it is the edge of the giant, gaseous cavity within NGC 3324, and the tallest “peaks” in this image are about 7 light-years high. The cavernous area has been carved from the nebula by the intense ultraviolet radiation and stellar winds from extremely massive, hot, young stars located in the center of the bubble, above the area shown in this image.
The blistering, ultraviolet radiation from the young stars is sculpting the nebula’s wall by slowly eroding it away. Dramatic pillars tower above the glowing wall of gas, resisting this radiation. The “steam” that appears to rise from the celestial “mountains” is hot, ionized gas and hot dust streaming away from the nebula due to the relentless radiation."
Once I learned that this enormous, hostile mountain is a nursery for stars, I knew I had to explore it deeper, she was calling me, she had lessons to tell us, to help is through this batt-shit insane time in our history.
On Friday, June 24th the US Supreme Court, forcing their religious beliefs on all Americans, took women's right to abortions. American's overwhelmingly want to keep women's right to choose, but a small right wing section of our government has hijacked our democracy to force their religious beliefs on us. The overturning of Roe V. Wade sent shock waves around the world, and the implications of what is to come are dire if we don't fight back.
The Cosmic Cliffs are anything but hospitable. They are in a state of constant destruction and birth, tearing down the old and starting new. This balance of destruction and creation is where the beauty happens. I can not help but laugh when I look at the images taken by the James Webb telescope, the absurdity that we are on a rock floating in space, following rules by scared old men is glaringly ridiculous. How can anyone think that the same creator that made this explosive, radioactive mass of hot dust, solar winds and steam gives one single fuck if a woman decides to get an abortion. This God created a star nursery out of chaos, how can we look at her creations and believe that she would begrudge us of going though own own delicate cycles of death and birth to find our equilibrium?
The only conclusion I have come up with is simply that she wouldn't. These "rules" were never written by God, but by fearful men who try to control the uncontrollable. Can you imagine if we were allowed to know the truth? That we are just as much a powerhouse as the Cosmic Cliffs, and if we followed our Creator's lead, we would burn what holds us back and nurture what makes us shine brighter.
The truth is, these scared men would not survive birth my fire, which is exactly why its time to burn it down.
